As Quentin Tarantino saddles up for another magnificent western, which is set to begin production early next year, we've gotten our hands on the brand new teaser trailer.
Set in the end of the 19th century, The Hateful Eight revolves around a group of stagecoach travelers stranded in a forlorn establishment called Millie's Haberdashery during a destructive blizzard. Among the disparate group of involuntary guests are John Ruth aka The Hangman (Kurt Russell) and former Union Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson). The two grizzled bounty hunters are transporting the young Daisy Domergue (Amber Tamblyn) to her trial - and probable death by hanging.
As you can imagine (since the movie hasn't started shooting yet) there's no footage to be seen. In fact, the teaser is comprised of a bunch of title cards. Still, check this out and see if it doesn't pique your interest:
I guess Tarantino's at that point in his career where he knows he don't need fancy trailers to throw money at his movies at the box office, anyway...
Still, what can we decipher from the early material? Well, it sounds very Tarantino-esque with a western-style song about the eponymous Hateful Eight, blood-splattered titles hint at the violence to come, and a shot of sand dunes harkens back to the style of classic westerns of the mid-20th century.
What little is to be seen here certainly has my vote...
