Now, in fairness, this writer's only objection to the idea of Pixar's The Good Dinosaur doesn't actually have anything to do with the film itself - instead, it's the idea that there's such a thing as a 'good' dinosaur at all. Clearly they're all awesome.
I mean, look at them:
But, that being said, there is always something concerning about a film losing its director and being completely retooled, as happened last year with the departure of Bob Peterson from the project.
Thankfully, though, the movie still has two fundamentally reassuring things going for it:
a) Pixar have done this before, and it's how we ended up with Toy Story 2 and Ratatouille.
b) John Lithgow - otherwise known as the nicest man alive - is totally on board with it, revealing to Collider that:
“I recorded the entire role in Good Dinosaur. They have now dismantled it and completely reimagined it, and it is a fantastic new story...So I’m gonna record again on it within the next month. Don’t worry. It’s coming and it’s gonna be better than I ever imagined.”
Which is...reassuring. He also confirmed that Frances McDormand will also still be a part of the project - though there's as yet no word on whether previously announced cast members Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris, Judy Greer and Lucas Neff will still feature.
Though surely no-one would ever be foolish enough to jettison Neil Patrick Harris from anything, right?
Either way, hopes should still be high for [The Good Dinosaur](movie:259814), which is currently set to arrive November 15, 2015.
What do you guys think? Excited for The Good Dinosaur?
