It's been less than a week since filming on Marvel's Ant-Man begun, and keen-eyed fans are already catching major easter eggs in the film! In this shot of Paul Rudd on set, you can see an ad for Pingo Doce soda behind him:
This particular soda was featured in Edward Norton's The Incredible Hulk (which does, in fact, count as MCU canon... as much as people may not want it to) not once, but twice! You can see the fictional soda featured in an initial scene, where Bruce banner takes up a supposed calm and ritualistic job at a factory to calm his anger:
Bruce accidentally spills a drop of his gamma-radiation-infused blood into one of the bottles during this scene, and we see the result of this during Stan Lee's cameo.
The Generalissimo is immediately affected thanks to swallowing some of that nasty soda (Blood AND calories? Gross) and passes out. Pingo Doce has also popped up as something of an easter egg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One box set, as part of Bruce's S.H.I.E.L.D. intelligence file.
Again, this is more than likely just a nod to The Incredible Hulk, but it does open up fan speculation that we might see Mark Ruffalo reprising his role as Bruce Banner to (totally bestie-cheat on Tony and) science bro-out with Scott Lang or Hank Pym. More than likely Pym.
At any rate, it's cool to see a nod to a previous MCU movie in the upcoming [Ant-Man](movie:9048) film. With any luck, we'll hear more about the plot soon!
