In January, NBC picked up the Wizard of Oz-esque drama Emerald City that went straight to series with a 10 episode pickup with Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) set to write the script with Matt Arnold (Siberia).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has announced they will not move forward with the project.

NBC has decided against the project when the network and producers could not agree on a shared vision for the show but it is believed that the studio will more than likely try for other potential candidates.

Emerald City was described as a "dramatic and modern reimagining," focusing on a headstrong 20-year-old, Dorothy Gale, who is unwittingly sent to Oz, where she finds herself at the center of an epic and bloody battle. No casting had been announced for this project.

Emerald City was supposed to be one of a handful of projects in the works timed to the 75th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz.

Having been to San Diego Comic Con this year, there were heaps of ads for this show, with nearly every bus, taxi or street sign featuring an ad for Emerald City, seems as waste of money and time to let it all go to waste!
