We have been notified that we will be getting Cassie Lang in [Ant-Man](movie:9048) next year. And like [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073), 'Ant-Man' opens up doors to other properties/characters/storylines within Marvel Studios' reach. One major property I, myself, have been waiting for (not as much as a Runaways movie/TV franchise) a long time. And if you haven't guessed by now, I'm gonna do another one of my love/hate fan casting for a 'Young Avengers' movie/TV franchise. Without further ado, the cast.
1) There may or may not be profanity within this article. You have been warned.
2) I have picked actors/actresses that have both TV & movie experience.
3) I am willing to take advise on these castings as my knowledge of these characters are limited to the minimal amount that I have read. I will say I'm sorry for anything that might be terrible in the foreseeable future.
Let's start off with the already confirmed character being brought to the MCU, Cassandra 'Cassie' Lang/Stature.
Now, since Cassie might already be cast as this little girl,
Abby Ryder Fortson. No offense to Abby, but I don't like the idea of a really young girl as Cassie. I think it could draw out the formation of the team back too far. I think Marvel should get the team started around the middle/end of Phase 3. It would be a great way to introduce the Time Stone. Back to casting, I did pick a young lady I would like to see take the mantle;
Nicola Peltz. Mainly know for M. Night Shitmaker's 'The Last Airbender' as Katara. Personally, I think the last good movie M. Night did was maybe 'Signs' in '02. I think Nicola has the right look & acting ability to portray the daughter of an ant. Her star power is low enough where she is practically on Marvel's radar already. If we fans have noticed anything yet about Marvel castings is that Marvel likes to cast relatively unknown actors/actresses. Nicola Peltz is in that range of relatively unknown.
Now, let's talk team leader(s)! Whether you consider Eli Bradley or Nate Richards as the team leader, I consider Eli the leader cause... stuff. So, here are my castings for Eli Bradley (1st) & Nathaniel Richards (2nd).
Elijah 'Eli' Bradley/Patriot
I picked 2 guys that I know one of them will get a lot of confusion because the majority of his projects have been comedy based. So, I'll start with the more wildcard pick.
Brandon T. Jackson. Mainly known for the Percy Jackson series, 'Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son' & 'Lottery Ticket'. I think Brandon has the right acting ability to play a more serious character than his normal run-of-the-mill characters he usually plays. I do have to say that Brandon isn't my first pick but he isn't my last pick either.
My 2nd pick for Eli is an actor that has hinted at wanting to be involved in the MCU.
John Boyega. I haven't seen John's acting but off of internet crap, I think John would be fairly good in this role. John is the perfect age for the character of Eli Bradley (to me anyway). I can't say too much about John so I'm gonna end this paragraph here.
Let's talk about the guy that formed the Young Avengers, Nathaniel 'Nate' Richards/Iron Lad.
How I have viewed Nathaniel is that he fears his future, a leader-type & a bit of a genius. So, I picked 2 actors that I think could play at least those 3 attributes.
Alexander Ludwig. Known for movies like 'Race to Witch Mountain', 'The Hunger Games' & the TV series 'Vikings'. Alex is no stranger to CGI, action & sci-fi. I have seen his acting, while it may not be the greatest acting, it's still a shit ton better than Kristen Stewart. Alex has the physical look & acting ability, i believe, that it takes to be Iron Lad.
Theo James. Known for 'Divergent', 'Underworld: Awakening' and 'The Inbetweeners Movie'. Before you start chewing my ass out, I know Theo is 29 right now but I imagine the YA being a tad bit older than their comic origins. I can't wait for the, & I'm paraphrasing, "fuck you's". Theo James, I believe, has the acting ability to be in the MCU; I think he can do the action & comedy areas needed.
The 4th member is a Kree/Skrull bastard child, Theodore 'Teddy' Altman/Hulkling.
Teddy is a shapeshifting, homosexual alien hybrid & an original member of the Young Avengers. Teddy is a caring, young man that was used as a peace offering between the Krees & Skrulls. I only have 1 choice for Teddy;
Kellan Lutz. Known for the Twilight Saga, 'The Expendables 3' & 'The Legend of Hercules'. I know, another teen star, but I really like Kellan. I think he has the acting ability that has yet to be given the acknowledgement that, I believe, he deserves. Kellan has shown through the Twilight Saga & TE3 that he can play very well with a group cast. As most of us know, Kellan definitely has the physical look for Hulkling & has the acting ability to portray a Marvel superhero.
5th member is 1-half of the Young Avengers twins;
William 'Billy' Kaplan/Wiccan. Billy is 1 of the sons of an upcoming MCU Avenger, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. Billy is, like Teddy, a caring, young homosexual man. The only difference is that Billy is a result of a mutant/robot love story. I have 2 casting choices like Patriot, 1 wildcard & 1 more serious choice. The 1st choice, the wildcard;
Dave Franco. Known for '21/22 Jump Street', 'Now You See Me' & 'Neighbors'. Dave can definitely do the comedy Marvel looks for, he can do the action & he looks like he can be a comic book character. Now, 1 thing that I have thought of is what would it look like to see Kellan Lutz & Dave Franco kiss on screen, & I think the 2 of them can do it. Personally, I think Dave is just a younger version of James.
My 2nd choice for Wiccan;
Taylor Kitsch. Known for 'Friday Night Lights', 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' & 'The Normal Heart'. I'm definitely a supporter of the Kitsch. I know Taylor is 33 & just a bit too old but he kinda has that babyface that can be used for a younger character. We know Taylor has the physical look & the acting ability for Wiccan. Judge it your way.
6th member, Katherine 'Kate' Bishop/Hawkeye.
Kate is a level-headed, powerless, strong willed woman with great skill. Kate started her hero career after being assaulted in Central Park. I believe she was brutally assaulted sexually as the attacked has yet to be confirmed; to my knowledge. I have 2 actresses that can definitely play the powerful woman type. 1st choice.
Lily Collins. Known for 'The Blind Side', 'The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones' & 'Abduction'. Lily, to me, is a great actress yet to get the A-List slot she deserves. Lily has the physical being that fits any young comic character cause stuff. And she has the acting style that can work within Marvel's range.
Zelda Williams. Zelda really isn't known for a whole lot, but has been involved in some shows that have big followings. Like, 'Teen Wolf', 'Checked Out' & 'The Legend of Korra'. Zelda is the daughter of recent ultra-star, Robin Williams. Yes, that factor did play a tidbit in this casting but I mainly was going off how Zelda looks & she looks like she can kick ass in a Marvel movie/show.
7th member, 2nd-half of the YA twins, Thomas 'Tommy' Shepard/Speed;
Tommy, like Billy, is a reincarnation of Scarlet Witch's dead sons. I've always viewed Tommy as a little cocky. So, I picked an actor I think can play cocky;
Alex Pettyfer. Known for 'I Am Number Four', 'Beastly' & 'Magic Mike'. If 'Number 4' showed us anything, it's that Alex can handle CGI action as well as actual action scenes. Alex has the acting ability & body to be in the MCU.
8th member, the Hispanic member, America Chavez/Miss America;
America is a surly, wise-ass, tough SOB that has super strength & flight. Not a whole lot of her background is known so I cast someone who I can imagine in this role;
Alexa PenaVega. Known for the Spy Kids franchise, 'The Tomorrow People' & 'Machete Kills'. Alexa has action background through TTP & SK & is just a good enough actress to be in the MCU.
9th member, another alien, Noh-Varr/Marvel Boy
"An intergalactic ladies man"... So, a good looking man? Got it. I did have a single casting choice for this character but Chad Michael Murray got cast in another Marvel project. So, I replaced him with an actor that is rumored to be eyed by Marvel right now;
Daniel Radcliffe. Known for the Harry Potter franchise, 'The Woman in Black' & 'A Young Doctor's Notebook'. I don't think I need to talk about Daniel too much. I think all of us can say he deserves to be involved in a comic book cinematic universe.
Well, that's my fan cast. Either you liked it or didn't. Let me know in the comments what you thought about the list!
