When it comes to paying homage to your heroes, some go more all out than others.

When photographer and art director Ken Lin wanted a pet project, he managed to create some of the greatest fan interpretations of Star Trek I've seen in a while.

A lifelong fan of the series, Lin's project "Star Trek Into California/Red is Dead" began as a few mockups he made with his friends, before spiralling into a long, awesome photo series.

Photographed in and around the California settings that the original series used, Lin's project combines insane graphics with impressive attention to detail and an obvious devotion to the camp aesthetic of classic Star Trek.
