Miley Cyrus and the VMAs have certainly had a memorable partnership in the past: who could forget that Robin Thicke performance? (If the question is nude lycra panties, the answer is no.)
Well, things might be about to change for the 21 year-old star, after she surprised us all at this weekend's VMAs.
After 'Wrecking Ball' won Video of the Year, a mystery man named Jesse took to the stage to accept the award on her behalf. No weird tongue stuff, just a whole lot of heart strings being tugged. Jesse began:
I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving and lost and scared for their lives. I know, because I am one of those people.
Jesse went on to speak about the homelessness problem in Hollywood. Meanwhile, Miley barely held it together in the celeb pit:
The identity of Jesse has yet to be revealed, but reports are saying that he's a 22 year-old originally from Oregon, and what he said really hit home:
Though may have been invisible to you on the streets I have a lot of the same dreams that brought many of you here tonight.
Cyrus reportedly met Jesse for the first time last tuesday, when she visited a shelter run by My Best Friend's Place, an L.A homelessness charity.
Cyrus insists that this was not a publicity stunt, and that she aims to become an ambassador for the charity, beginning with a fundraising competition:
For every $5 donation, you’ll be entered to win a trip for 2 to Brazil to hang out with me at my show in Rio de Janeiro.
