Chris Hemsworth ("Thor") and Charlie Day ("Horrible Bosses") are in talks to join the reboot of the comedy classic "National Lampoon's Vacation", a person with knowledge of the project reported.
The reboot will star Ed Helms as Rusty Griswold, the now grown son of Clark and Ellen Griswold (Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo respectively), as he takes his family on a road trip much like his father did all those years ago. Christina Applegate plays Rusty's wife, with Chase and D'Angelo doing cameos. Hemsworth will play the husband to Rusty's sister Audrey, while Day will make a cameo as a guide (much like John Candy's WallyWorld security guy). Wether cousin Eddie makes an appearance remains to be seen, but here's hoping!
The mis-adventures of the Griswold clan were chronicled in the "Vacation" films that ran from 1983-1997; with a sequel ("Christmas Vacation 2") that dealt with Ellen's cousin Eddie played to the hilt by Randy Quaid. A 15 minute short released online in 2010 called "Hotel Hell Vacation" saw Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen on their way to visit Rusty and his family. Though not an official part of the "Vacation" series purists love it for the nostalgia of seeing Chase and D'Angelo playing Clark and Ellen again.
Chris Hemsworth recently finished filming his role as Thor in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron". Charlie Day will soon be seen in "Horrible Bosses 2".
