In a turn of events that surprises almost no one, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy has skyrocketed to the glorious position of this year's hit superhero-scifi-comedy-action flick. Along with record-breaking sales, this movie has also moved up the ranks of success within the cast's own separate resumes as well. Most notable (for now) is how the movie has shaped to be Vin Diesel's most successful to date.
Diesel is a great leading man; his acting and the movies he chooses are almost a nostalgic reminder of the 70's and 80's takes on the hardened action hero, sans spandex and headbands (sadly). That said, it seems that his part in an ensemble cast has been his most successful to date. Here are Vin's Official Top Five most successful movies to date (domestic totals only):
1. Guardians of the Galaxy - $250 Million (so far)
2. Fast & Furious 6 - $239 Million
3. Saving Private Ryan - $216 Million
4. Fast Five - $209 Million
5. The Fast and the Furious - $144 Million
While these are only a fraction of Diesel's extensive repertoire, it's impressive to see how this particular movie has shot to the top. Vin Diesel is known to be a badass, D&D-playing nerd, so I don't think he'd have any qualms with a superhero movie being his highest-grossing film of all time. Plus, with all of that Inhumans talk, we may yet see another superhero film topping this list soon enough.
