Great news for anyone who has ever seen an episode of Friends (read: everyone), a replica of the famous coffee shop Central Perk will soon be opened in New York City!
The pop-up shop will be set up to mark the 20th anniversary of the show and will serve free cups of coffee, including a limited edition Central Perk Roast!
The store, which will be open for a month from Sept. 17th, will feature props from the show including appearances by that iconic orange couch (can couches make special appearances?) and everyone's favorite Barista, Gunther.
But back to the part of that news you had to read twice: Friends began 20 years ago. How is that even possible, you guys?!
Since the show ended our fave group of pals have kept very busy, check out what the cast of friends are doing now:
Rachel Green - Jennifer Aniston
Why She Was Great: Rachel Green- she had style, a cool job and great hair! She was also the friend who developed the most throughout the show, going from spoiled daddy's girl to independent woman (and becoming a mom along the way).
Age Then: 25
Age Now: 45
What's She Been Up To?: Jennifer Aniston has had the most successful movie career post-Friends, with her movies making over $1.8 billion worldwide. She has appeared in films Friends With Money (2006), Marley & Me (2008), He's Just Not That Into You (2009), Just Go With It, Horrible Bosses (both 2011) and We're The Millers (2013). Her latest film Horrible Bosses 2 will be released later this year. In addition to her film success she has also somehow managed to find the fountain of youth and remain as young looking as she did in 1994.
Monica Geller - Courteney Cox
Why She Was Great: Monica was the clean-freak, mother-hen of the group. Fiercely competitive, but with a huge heart (and apartment!), she shared two of the most emotional storylines of the show with husband Chandler - when they found out they couldn't have kids but then when they finally managed to adopt twins.
Age Then: 30
Age Now: 50
What's She Been Up To?: After Friends Courteney Cox has continued to find success in TV. She played Lucy Spiller on the series Dirt which ran for two seasons and currently plays Jules Cobb on the comedy Cougar Town. After divorcing husband David Arquette in 2013, she announced her engagement to Snow Patrol band member Johnny McDaid in June 2014.
Phoebe Buffay - Lisa Kudrow
Why She Was Great: Phoebe was the kooky, spiritual friend of the group. A vegetarian and animal lover she is responsible for the memorable song 'Smelly Cat'. By the end of the series she married her partner Mike Hannigan aka Crap Bag.
Age Then: 31
Age Now: 51
What's She Been Up To?: Lisa Kudrow has continued work in TV and film after Friends, she appeared in the films Easy A (2010) and Neighbors (2014). She currently works behind the camera as the executive producer for the show Who Do You Think You Are? She co-created, wrote and starred in award winning webseries Web Therapy and TV series The Comeback which after being cancelled in 2005 was just picked up for a new series in 2014 (talk about a comeback!).
Joey Tribbiani - Matt LeBlanc
Why He Was Great: The hot but dim-witted friend, Joey had a heart of gold and struggled for his dream as an actor throughout the series. His brilliant catch phrase 'How, YOU doin'?' will live on forever, not to mention one that's popular in my household: 'Joey, doesn't share food!'
Age Then: 27
Age Now: 47
What's He Been Up To?: Immediately after Friends ended Matt LeBlanc starred in the spin-off series Joey which lasted for two seasons. He is currently playing himself on comedy series Episodes which is written by Friends co-creator David Crane. LeBlanc won the 2012 Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series Comedy for his part in Episodes which is currently filming its fourth season.
Chandler Bing - Matthew Perry
Why He Was Great: Chandler Bing, could he BE anymore sarcastic? He was the friend with the best name (his middle name was Muriel), the weirdest family life (erotic novelist mom, drag queen dad) and the job we didn't quite understand. In the end he got the girl, the family and the big house in the suburbs.
Age Then: 25
Age Now: 45
What's He Been Up To?: After Friends Matthew Perry starred in short-lived TV shows Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Go On. His most recent films include Numb (2007) and 17 Again (2009). In December 2013 it was announced he was starring, co-writing and producing a remake of The Odd Couple, due to start sometime in 2015.
Ross Geller - David Schwimmer
Why He Was Great: The smart and geeky friend who somehow always managed to get really hot girls...And then divorce them (three times!). He was the dino doctor and first of the Friends crew to have a kid, Ben and later a daughter named Emma with Rachel. In the final episode Ross finally got back together with Rachel and we hope and pray they never took any more breaks.
Age Then: 27
Age Now: 47
What's He Been Up To?: Schwimmer has had a varied career since Friends ended. He voiced the character Melman in Madagascar and its sequels, acted in films Duane Hopwood (2005), John Carter (2012) and The Iceman (2013). He also directed Run Fatboy Run (2007) and Trust (2010). Most recently he was announced in his first comedic role since Friends, the lead in TV show Irreversible.
1994 vs 2004
So while we are getting a pop-up Central Perk, we still wait and hope for a Friends reunion (come on Friends movie!), while it doesn't look set to happen any time soon, at least we have this in the meantime:
Right, I don't know about you but after that I'm heading off to watch a few of my favorite episodes right now, The One With Chandler In A Box, The One With the Prom Video, The One That Could Have Been....There are too many! What's your favorite episode?
Would you go and grab a coffee at Central Perk?
