One of the new characters that I was most excited about seeing in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron was Ms Marvel, so you can imagine my disappointment this morning upon seeing the following tweets...

Oh, say it ain't so! Could Marvel really be considering pulling the iconic Ms Marvel? Why would they do such a thing?

Well, don't fret, Carol Corps, because I have a theory (it could be bunnies).

If Devin Fracci is correct (and bear in mind, it's not like this is coming from Whedon himself, so it could be pure speculation), then it's not that Marvel doesn't want to intro her at all, but that they don't want to do it "cold".
Meaning, they don't just want to dump such an iconic (and amazing) character in without giving her the proper backstory to do her justice.

And what does that mean? It could mean that they would make the choice to give her more of an Easter Egg than a full cameo - we can't see SHIELD in this one (because it is no more), but there will need to be some kind of government agency involved, which opens the door for, say, the Air Force and NASA? Maybe a certain employee of theirs known as Carol Danvers?

Rather than give the full Ms Marvel treatment to the character, this could open the door to something that I would much rather see - a Ms Marvel movie!

I would be so much happier to see Danvers as her pre-kree self in this movie, and then have the opportunity to fully explore her backstory in a solo project. She is the perfect candidate for Marvel's first female-fronted superhero movie, and I would be ecstatic if they pulled that off.

What do you think? Is this all speculation, or is Ms Marvel not going to appear at all?

What do you think this means for Ms Marvel?
