I hoped you enjoyed my video review.
The reason I am choosing to write an article about this, to me it’s like choosing Holden’s over Fords... or like Modern films over Classics?
Here is my review about Max Mad Fury Road I hope you enjoyed it. It has the trailer in it.
Who will play the better mad max? Mel or Tom? Let’s have a look at what major roles they have had and what success the film had?
First I will be picking the three top movies that I have seen by each actor and then looking at their personal acting awards and what “Empire” and “RogerBert” has said there acting was like.
A brief description: When his secret bride is executed for assaulting an English soldier who tried to rape her, a commoner begins a revolt and leads Scottish warriors against the cruel English tyrant who rules Scotland with an iron fist.
Won 5 Oscars another 25 awards and was nominated for 24 awards.
Just because the website Empire online has not done a review of Brave heart I will use Rogerbert: Mel Gibson's "Braveheart" is a full-throated, red-blooded battle epic about William Wallace, the legendary Scots warrior who led his nation into battle against the English in the years around 1300. It's an ambitious film, big on simple emotions like love, patriotism and treachery, and avoids the travelogue style of so many historical swashbucklers: Its locations look green, wet, vast, muddy and rugged.
A veteran cop, Murtaugh, is partnered with a young suicidal cop, Riggs. Both having one thing in common; hating working in pairs. Now they must learn to work with one another to stop a gang of drug smugglers.
Won 5 awards and nominated one Oscar and one other award.
This cannot be said of the film, whose style rarely comes at the cost of substance in a well-woven web of murder, corruption, and fine one-liners. The cross-generational, cross-cultural jokes work well, and it’s hard not to feel for the convincingly geriatric Danny Glover. Gibson, too, wins us over in a tour de force of twitches, sniffs and trigger-happy enthusiasm. – empire
Mad Max Original
I am showing you the Mad Max trailer because I want to open you up to my point of view.
A vengeful Australian policeman sets out to avenge his partner, his wife and his son whom were murdered by a motorcycle gang in retaliation for the death of their leader.
4 awards won and 5 Nominated
Now released with the original Strine accents, the film shows a very young, boyish Mel as cop Max Rockatansky, in some strange future, where the cops have high speed rocket cars to catch bad guys who have souped-up cars that go even faster.
A brief description of the movie: A thief who steals corporate secrets through use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a CEO.
Won 4 Oscars, 125 other awards and was nominated for 157 awards.
Others exert a personality and appeal on parts that on the page would have played very close to ‘types’ — particularly Ellen Page, exuding a prim sexiness as, really, Basil Exposition, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who somehow manages to appear both ambiguous and dependable as essentially a sidekick. The pair share one of the movie’s best comic beats, too, though most of the sly laughs come from Tom Hardy’s roguish Eames. –Empire Review
The Dark Knight Rises
A brief description of: Eight years after the Joker's reign of anarchy, the Dark Knight must return to defend Gotham City against the enigmatic jewel thief Cat woman and the ruthless mercenary Bane as the city teeters on the brink of complete annihilation.
Was nominated for 1 BAFTA, won 35 other awards and was nominated for 69 other awards. IMDB voted the Dark Knight Rises 50th out of 250 top movies.
Rises asks other probing questions: Can you redeem without sacrifice? Can revenge bring peace? What the bloody hell is Tom Hardy saying?Actually, the preview footage palaver about Bane’s babble is largely irrelevant: he may sound like Sir Ian McKellen gargling meths in a wind tunnel, but the verbal clarity of the masked, muscled monster is never as important as his brute bulk (though he does have some memorable vocal barbs). Hardy looks like he could have played the Hulk — with a CG Bruce Banner — and is more than convincing as the man who could break the Bat. – Empire Review
This Means War
A brief description of the movie: Two top CIA operatives wage an epic battle against one another after they discover they are dating the same woman.- IMDB
Nominated for 6 awards and won one.
As the suitors, Pine and Hardy offer a study in contrasts. Pine is the cocky ladies’ man, Hardy the gruff loner with the soft heart. Its familiar territory for both (cf. Star Trek; Warrior), but more importantly they convince as friends, rivals and spies. – Empire Online review
Nothing that risky and likes to play roles that are in the normal and didn’t step outside his comfort zone for this film.

My personal opinion is that with the greatest of actors/actress they have the necessary vision to how to act this, I can go on about how alot can come from the director but in Brave Heart Mel was the director and protagonist so he had to have a vision about that.
I believe a good award winning film director reflects their visionary skills and having an award winning visionary skills means that there acting ability is nothing to scoff about.
Let’s go back to Mel Gibson awards he won 26 other awards in other films for acting and was nominated for 22 other awards.
We have looked at their acting awards and neither actor has loads of awards but Mel Gibson takes the lead. He has more visionary skill and acting ability compared to Tom Hardy. Tom has the method acting and character depth acting that Mel has not yet faced in his career.
The Original Mad Max 1979 had a small tiny budget of $400,000 which limits the ability presentation skill for George Miller.
The 2015 the budget for Fury Road is 150 million. We need to think about the development between the years gap....36 year gap.
Tom Hardy has come at the perfect timing allowing him to thrive in the 21st century of the film. At the age of 36 he is going to thrive in the entertainment business for a very long time to come. Mel on the other words is in his final years of the entertainment business after his previous problems, he was booed and was banished from the entrainment and I am surprised that he was hired in Expendables 3.
With Tom Hardy being an award winning method actor, his role in Mad Max will be very good. I suppose if you look at the years difference between mad max original there has been a lot more style and depth to the films.
So if I had to pick between Tom and Mel for the 2015 Mad Max, I would have to say that Tom would be a better pick because he has more experience with character deep films.
Tom hardy is a very dedicated actor and has been known his method acting. In Bronson he gained a lot of weight for the film. For his method acting he won BAFTA for it, this is no small achievement.
To me this is a lot like oranges and apples, Do you want a film that will take you in a physical rollercoaster like a lot of Tom Hardy films. Which there is nothing wrong about or do you want films that is very story driven or character driven?
The late 70s didn't have great actors compared to the 21st but we need to look past the script and I suppose my opinion of the 1979 version is that I have seen Mel Gibson as Mad Max and I don't think Tom will be able to fill his shoes and I have not seen Tom Hardy perform as the Mad Max. When I was looking at the trailer I personally did not believe Tom Hardy in the role.
If someone leaked some test footage, like the dead pool footage it would be great and it would make it so much easier to look then just comparing the two trailers alone.
We still cannot pick a winner till 2015 when the mad max comes out.
If Mel got the chance to do some screen test footage of Mad Max Fury Road it would be great I think personally that Mel has more a visionary ability to seeing the mad max compared to the modern Tom Hardy acting skill. But yet Tom Hardy has the modern style of acting down which means that he doesn't have to try to make the film good.
With Mel being out of the acting gig for such a long time after his problem we really have not got any footage to compare against Tom Hardy and he has been on the rise to his fame. Mel will have a hard time with a role like this because he was not in the acting world when the change of acting happened.
Tom Hardy has some serious achievements for his acting under his belt eg (Bronson and Warrior) in both, Tom took his dedication to the next level. I am hoping that Tom sets outside his comfort zone for the mad max film.
Tell me below in the Poll of who you think deserves to win?
This is just my opinion and I didn't write this to offend anyone. Its just opinion and I would love to hear your opinion below in the comments. My opinion can be wrong, we just have to wait till the movie comes out to see who wins.
