The Season 10 finale of Grey's Anatomy left fans hanging as Meredith and Derek's relationship took a turn for the worst. As Meredith voiced her need to stay in Seattle at Grey Sloan Memorial, Derek tried to persuade her to move to D.C. so he could start fresh at a new hospital to further his career and his research. The newly released titles for Episodes 1 and 2 may reveal what might go down for the couple during the season premiere.
Following the usual pattern, the titles "I Must Have Lost it on the Wind" and "Puzzle with a Missing Piece" are named after songs that usually relate to the main plot of the episode.
The lyrics for both of these songs hint that something may be going wrong in Meredith and Derek's relationship. In "I Must Have Lost it on the Wind" by Elton John, the lyrics say.
In cold water I went fishing in warm seas I cast a line
And swore the heart I was reeling in was perfect at the time
You couldn't tell me I was wrong, you couldn't tell me anything
And if you did then I guess I must have lost it on the wind
When Meredith finally was able to be with Derek, he seemed perfect for her. Does their fight reveal something that suggests otherwise?
In Gotye's piece, he says something related as well.
I stretch and shift
These parts won't fit
I can chop and change all I like
Rearranging this won't make it right
What does all of this mean for Meredith and Derek's relationship? Are they going to be able to patch things up? Or will they realize they both want and need different things?
Grey's Anatomy returns to ABC on September 25.
