Who's ready for another Michael Bay sci-fi franchise?

Wait, don't answer that - because ready or not, one's on its way. Michael Bay, likely the world's biggest fan of entirely unnecessary explosions to still be in possession of both of his hands, has a new project on the way - and it's going to be... vehicular.

More specifically, it's going to be based on a concept art book by the name of Cosmic Motors, created by Tron: Legacy and Oblivion vehicle designer Daniel Simon.

The original book didn't exactly have a narrative - instead, it was a collection of “nine different spaceships, pods, race cars, giant trains, warships and balloons from various planets of the Galaxion system”. Which is actually probably about the exact right amount of textual basis for a Michael Bay movie, seeing as it allows for virtually no destruction of beloved childhood icons.

Also, it actually looks surprisingly cool:

If a little like it was designed by a teenage boy.

Machete Kills and (the upcoming) Agent 47 scribe Kyle Ward has been brought on board to wedge a square script into the distinctly non-fiction round hole of the original book - which, again, seems like a deceptively perfect match.

No word yet on a release date - seeing as the movie doesn't even have a script yet - but you can bet we'll be seeing [Cosmic Motors](movie:2240808) in theaters someday.

What do you guys think? Up for Cosmic Motors?
