Transformers 4: Age of Extinction was a box office smash hit, and yet the future of the franchise looks to be in jeopardy.
Director Michael Bay and Mark Wahlberg, the star of Transformers 4 who to the satisfaction of many fans took over from Shia LaBeouf, will not return for a fifth movie. So could it be down to Megan Fox to save the franchise?
The end of [Transformers: Age of Extinction](movie:206531) saw Optimus Prime disappear into space in order to find the "Creators" - so there is more of the story to be told, but producers might think that without Michael Bay at the helm, another familiar face is needed to ensure continuity betweens the movies. Could this be where Megan Fox steps in?
Fox was famously removed from working on Transformers 3 after she made comments comparing Michael Bay to Hitler, due to the explosion-loving director's strict style of working.
The two have since repaired their relationship, though, and Michael Bay was reportedly instrumental in getting Megan Fox hired for the role of April O'Neil in the latest [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles](movie:323027) movie.
Fox is eager to return to Transformers, too. She said that she would love to make a comeback, even if it meant:
"assembling an autobot motorcycle in a bike shop or something like that."
However, there might be a problem. Megan Fox's contract for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles includes a potential sequel. Now that TMNT has met expectations at the box office, could this affect her desired return for Transformers 5?
