You know when a friend wears something to a party that is so otherworldly hideous that the only thing you can say about it is "wow... it's different, so unusual"? That is Angelina Jolie's wedding dress.
In a super sweet idea that somehow mutated into one of the most hideous garments ever seen outside Jersey Shore, Jolie decided to have her children's drawings lovingly embroidered into her gown.
Unfortunately, there is definitely no budding Rembrandt quietly germinating in the Jolie/Pitt household, and instead of going for a delicate white or cream for the embroidered images, Angelina went for this:
It looks like Saint Ange gathered up a tablecloth from Zio's Italian Restaurant after a field trip of preschool kids have been at it with the magic markers and made it into a very expensive cape.
Putting my bruised and bleeding retinas aside, the story behind Angelina's dress is actually incredibly sweet. The gown was designed by long-standing family friend Luigi Massi, who also happens to be the head tailor at Atelier Versace.
The drawings by Brad and Angelina's children were hand-sewn into the dress individually. Jolie spoke out to people magazine and explained;
Luigi is like family to me and I couldn't imagine anyone else making this dress. He knows and cares for the children and it was great fun putting it together.
All I'm going to say is that Luigi must be a close family friend to allow his haute couture name to be attached to this creation forever. That's love.
