It's a sad day for all fans of How To Train Your Dragon.

DreamWorks Animation has today announced that even though the franchise has just reached the $600 million after How To Train Your Dragon 2 broke records in China, it won't stop number 3 being pushed back a year.

This lack of logic hurts.

But since [How to Train Your Dragon 3](movie:570818) would be coming up against Finding Dory and The Nice Guys if it was released next summer like originally planned, the studio has seen fit to push it back to June 9, 2017.

That's in the same three week stretch as the second LEGO movie and a Pixar release. Seems like 2017's going to be a big summer for animation.

Reuniting writer/director Dean DeBlois and producer Bonnie Arnold, How to Train Your Dragon 3 will continue where number 2 left off.

So far it's been confirmed that most of the cast are returning, including Jay Baruchel as Hiccup, America Ferrera as Astrid and Cate Blanchett as Valka.

The worst thing about this delay is we now have to wait a whole 12 months more until we get to see Toothless doing cheeky things like this:

He's so cheeky!
He's so cheeky!

Or totally winning and failing at life at the same time:

But worst of all, it will be ages until we get to see Toothless and Hiccup being totally adorable again:
