Deadpool fans have, for a long time now, been crying out for their favorite hero to make it onto the big screen. There were rumors, speculation, and theories that the Merc with a Mouth was, in the end, just too weird for Hollywood.

But recently, there was a glimpse of hope. Some leaked footage which emerged around the time of the San Diego Comic Con 2014, showed Ryan Reynolds voiceover some test footage of Deadpool which, while it may not have been perfect, was a far more authentic version of Wade Wilson than the mess that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

X-Men Days of Future Past: William Stryker and Deadpool

But could X-Men Apocalypse, the next movie in the X-Men series, be about to change the fate of Deadpool forever?

In the final scenes of [X-Men: Days Of Future Past](movie:203942), Wolverine was seen being taken from the water by William Stryker.

Stryker, for those that don't know, is one of the most despicable characters in the Marvel universe, a sadist and torturer who murdered his own wife and child out of his hatred for mutants. He is also the pioneer of the Weapon X Project, responsible for giving Wolverine his adamantium skeleton and creating the one and only Deadpool.

Soon, however it was revealed that it wasn't William Stryker, but Mystique who had pulled Wolverine from the boat.

Fans could read this in two ways: had she rescued Wolverine from his fate, meaning he would no longer undergo experimentation in the Weapon X project, or was the fact that she was disguised as William Stryker at all a nod to his future involvement, and, potentially, that of [Deadpool](movie:38663)?

Now there is a new development. Reports are spreading the rumor that Wolverine's involvement in X-Men Apocalypse will revolve around him and Jean grey being involved with Weapon X.

It has even been rumored that this movie will see the return of Wolverine's iconic yellow and black costume:

Could X-Men be reopening the door for Deadpool with Weapon X? Even if he was not directly in the movie, the reestablishment of the Weapon X project (in a different form to the disaster of X-Men Origins) can only be a good thing for Deadpool's chances, can't it?

So what do you think? Will we see a Deadpool movie hinted at in [X-Men: Apocalypse](movie:1194267)? Would you want the Merc wit a Mouth to be part of the same universe as the X-Men? Write in with your thoughts below!
