As discussion continue between fans about a Black Widow movie, Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., added his opinion on a possible Black Widow stand alone movie:

"It would be kind of more appropriate for a character that already was like a Black Widow. It just seems like whatever Scarlett does people want to go see it... The funny thing is honestly at this point everyone deserves a franchise. I think Jeremy Renner is - when folks see the [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035) he's just a rockstar, a badass. And Ruffalo is pumped. He does great. I'd like to hear them talk even more seriously about a Hulk franchise, because that's been one of the toughest ones to get right. But I'm sure that my parent company is feeling expansive and bold after the summer they've had."

The important thing to keep in mind here is that Robert Downey Jr or any other actor in the MCU has any control whatsoever about these decisions. But his input is interesting. Downey Jr. makes several good points:

Black Widow

1) People do want to see Scarlett Johansson. Her last movie; "Lucy" opened to a big audience, even beating out Hercules and Johansson was the only bankable star in the film.

Hawkeye

2) Everyone should get a franchise. If Black Widow could possibly get a movie, then why not Hawkeye? I have a feeling that after Avengers: Age Of Ultron there will be a lot of people asking for a [Hawkeye](movie:1070822) stand alone. I've always thought that it would make most sense to put Black Widow and Hawkeye in a movie together, since they have a very deep relationship.

Hulk

3) Give us more Hulk! Of course Downey Jr. and Ruffalo are very good friends because of their roles in The Avengers movie and Downey Jr wants to see Ruffalo lead his own Hulk movie....as we all do! Hulk is a character that has had two stand alone feature films, the 2003 Hulk is considered to be one of the worst comic book films and a lot of people just forgot about The Incredible Hulk that came out in 2008, which is a good movie! Fans responded incredibly well to Hulk in Avengers, so maybe Marvel will give him more screen time in Avengers 2 to see how a solo Hulk movie would do.

4) Marvel had the best Summer! Marvel had two gigantic films open this year. Captain America: The Winter Soldier opened to huge box office and great reception with critics and audiences. How could they top that? Well they did... with [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073)! Guardians is now the highest grossing movie of the year in the US! Not only that... but it is a damn good film as well! Guardians proved that not every movie has to be based on known source material to be successful. No one knew who the Guardians Of The Galaxy were before this movie and look at it now! Audiences are pining for a sequel! If Guardians can become the highest grossing movie of the year... then surely Hulk or [Black Widow](movie:1070824) can be successful!
