Hi, guys. I think we can all agree it's been a pretty crappy few weeks on the internet, yeah? Female gamers getting death threats for simply speaking out, journalists getting beheaded, 101 women having their privacy completely violated by hackers... If you spend any time at all on social media, it's been a rough go of it.
But thankfully, there's a new Twitter hashtag game to remind us of all the good things that social media can do. Say hi to the #Cinephilephoto Challenge!
Not familiar with it? Let me explain.
Movies are a great way to combat all the negative stuff I mentioned up above. They make us happy, change our lives, affect us profoundly, tell us stories, fill us with joy, or despair, and the gamut of emotions in between. Movies have a power and a resonance of their own that can change a mind or heart for the better.
And the #Cinephilephoto challenge is a great way to remind ourselves of that. A chain-letter style challenge, it's super-easy:
1.) PICK A SHOT from a movie that you think captures the essence of why you love movies so much
2.) HASHTAG it with #Cinephilephoto
3.) POST IT HERE in the comments (and on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, etc.)
4.) TAG 3 of your friends to take the challenge as well! (Protip: You can tag other contributors in the comments by typing the @ symbol to pull up their name.)
5.) SHARE THE LOVE, like, tweet, retweet, favorite, and let's see how much further we can spread the #Cinephilephoto movie challenge!
For example, here's mine:
And celebrities are getting into the fun of it on Twitter, too:
There you have it! No political agenda, no charities to argue about, no social issues - just plain fun and reminding ourselves of the joy of movies.
Get it? Got it? GOOD! Now let's see YOUR #Cinephilephoto. I nominate...all of you! Don't forget to tag 3 people and share this on social media. Let's have fun!
