George Clooney doesn't like to rest on his laurels. After co-writing, directing and starring in The Monuments Men, he's announced his next project - an in-depth look at the British phone hacking scandal.

Hack Attack adapts the book of the same name by journalist Nick Davies, and examines the power of Rupert Murdoch's media empire and its infringement of privacy.

Clooney commented:

This has all the elements – lying, corruption, blackmail – at the highest levels of government by the biggest newspaper in London. And the fact that it's true is the best part. Nick is a brave and stubborn reporter and we consider it an honor to put his book to film.

Davies spent six years investigating News Corporation and its subsidiary, News International. The scandal shut down News of the World after 168 years of continuous publication, and caused a huge government backlash.

In other words, it's got "tense Clooney eyebrows" written all over it.

Shooting is scheduled to start next year.
