Hello Moviepilot, it's Kaleb. Again. Today I'm going to share with you how I would most likely put together a Spider-Man cinematic universe. Please don't hate me if you believe my ideas suck. Also I'm writing this as if all of the studios would get along and share. OK, Here we go...
This film would be your typical run-of-the-mill origin story. Peter's parents are killed, Uncle Ben is killed, Peter's dog gets killed. Okay, maybe not that last one. Peter does fall in love and date Gwen Stacey in this film as well. Instead of fighting a traditional villain, we see him get into the Kingpin's business and starts to take down his business. The Kingpin employs the Shocker and his Enforcers to take down ol' webhead but it doesn't work. Kingpin escapes, but plans to get revenge on Spider-Man for exposing his dirty deeds.
Spider-Man: With Great Power
Peter explores his powers further & their extent. He & Gwen continue dating for the rest of Phases 1 & 2. Kingpin returns with Beetle fighting Spider-Man while wearing a suit built by Alistair Smythe, who at the end of Act 2 becomes Spider-Slayer and fights Spider-Man. Spider-Man destroys Kingpin's business and finishes that story.
There would be about 7 undecided projects, they'd either be shorts or TV Movies or maybe even feature-length films:
Spider-Man: Living Legend (Captain America crossover)
Spider-Man: Mutant vs. Menace (Wolverine crossover)
Spider-Man: Fire & Ice (Firestar & Iceman crossover)
Spider-Man: Flame On! (Human Torch crossover)
Spider-Man: Blind Justice (Daredevil crossover)
Spider-Man: Cloak & Dagger (really?! I know you get this one)
The New Fantastic Four (Hulk, Ghost Rider, Wolverine & Spidey)
Spider-Man would also be introduced to The Avengers my Avengers Phase 5, but that article is for another time. On to...
(Disclaimer: Not much Spider-Man in this phase, but when he does in the spin-offs, it's a very brief appearance.)
The Amazing Spider-Man
Ok hear me out. This film shows Spidey team up with the FF to fight Chameleon, the newest and (so far) greatest adversary Spidey has fought. This film is a kick-off to Phase 2. It is a set-up film for the next few spin-offs...
This spin-off is the beginning of an Avengers-esue formation. Chameleon's origin doesn't change, at all. He comes to New York and it leads into The Amazing Spider-Man. At the end, however, while police investigate his mask making device, there is a stamp that reads Oscorp - designed by Adrian Toomes. This leads into...
The film shows Oscorp engineer Adrian Toomes as he is rushed by Norman Osborn to develop a suit for military black ops to travel to and from operation quicker. The result is the Vulture costume, however Toomes gets greedy and wanting revenge in his abusive boss, steals the suit for himself. He has a run in with Spider-Man, but escapes and goes into (temporary) hiding.
Of course the title is still in the works. (Comment your ideas below.) The story sees us back at Oscorp. Dr. Otto Octavius and his partner, Dr. Curt Connor, are working on a way to get Dr. Connors's arm back after his accident. Octavius argues that modern technology can cure the doctor, but Connors believes there is an organic cure. Octavius attempts to find human test subjects, but is eventually forced to use himself. The result is Doctor Octopus. He turns to crime due to the machine's control over him (just like in Spider-Man 2). Spider-Man beats him and puts him away at Rikers.
Sandman is the story of pro thief Flint Marko. One of the Kingpin's former henchmen and now working as a freelance thief, he is hired to break in to Oscorp and steal secrets on upcoming plans. However, he is caught and, on orders of Norman Osborn, is used as test subject for a secret project. Believing he is dead after the experiment is over, Norman dumps his body. Flint wakes up with the abilities he has in the comics. He immediately uses these abilities to continue his life of crime. Eventually beat by Spider-Man, he escapes and goes into hiding and changes his name to William Baker.
The story picks up where we last left Connors, experimenting on his arm to find an organic cure to regenerate his lost arm. Just like in the movie, the experiment goes wrong and turns him into the Lizard. He rampages through New York City, but is defeated by Spider-Man and "cured". He returns home to his family, but the Lizard still lurks somewhere within...
Electro is the story of Max Dillion, a down-on-his-luck Oscorp electrician. Dillion is fired by Osborn after Max's power grid designs are turned over to Oscorp. Dillion is enraged and attempts to kill Osborn, but he is taken to secret projects and electrocuted on an electrical bed. Revived days later, Dillon finds he has the ability to control electricity and becomes Electro. Much like in TASM2, he tries to get revenge on Osborn and take back what is his, but Spider-Man intervenes and attempts to arrest him, but he flees through electrical circuits.
SFX (Special FX) specialist and failed actor Quentin Beck loses his last movie job and is fired. Only wanting for the world to know who he is, he takes his FX tech and uses it to become Mysertio. He begins his crime wave and stages several displays of FX power. Spider-Man almost defeats him, but Beck escapes.
The story starts with Norman Osborn making a deal with the military to find a better suit for covert ops missions in place of the Vulture's suit. He then finds out he is dying of cancer and simultaneously creates a formula to cure himself. The G.O.B.L.I.N (Norman doesn't make acronyms) serum to use on himself. When the military threatens to cancel their contract with them if they don't get a working suit in 3 days. At this news Osborn rushes the suit's testing and tests GOBLIN on himself. The military reps come and demand their suit demonstration. Norman puts the suit on himself. The GOBLIN serum cause Norman to go insane, that combined with the suit, turns him into the Green Goblin and kills all of the reps. The Goblin goes on a killing spree before Spider-Man stops him. The Goblin is imprisoned, but his plans aren't over....
Kraven is the most disconnected film of the phase. The only way Kraven is connected is his half-brother, Chameleon. Kraven is born in England, but goes off to the jungles of Africa to hunt. He becomes a master hunter and tracker, one his skills are honed, he starts tracking down his half-brother, but finds him fighting Spider-Man. He joins in his half-brother's fight, but is captured after nearly killing Spider-Man. He catches the attention of Norman Osborn. And the plan is complete...
This is pretty much the point of phase 2. Norman finds Sandman, Mysterio, Vulture & Electro. He breaks Doc Ock and Chameleon out. They battle Spider-Man and it almost works. The six barely escape and follow contingency order 1...break out Norman Osborn. The film ends with Norman saying to activate Project 12.
The story is the beginning of Project 12. Mac Gargan volunteers for a secret Oscorp project called 12. He takes a serum and procedure that turns him in the Scorpion and is then sent on his way to cause mayhem by Norman. He his foiled by Spider-Man, but returns to the team as number 8.
Spider-Man: The Final Chapter
Finally we see what Spidey is up to. Aunt May is dying and Peter teams with Dr. Connor to find a cure. During this process, however, Connors reverts to his Lizard state and is captured by is old partner, Doc Ock. Octavius convinces him to join their team, but Spider-Man saves him and they finish the serum after a team-up against Octavius. They save Aunt May's life and Connors goes home normal, but with a lot to think about... In a post credits scene, we see Doc Ock tell Kraven that Project 12 now has 9 members.
The story is the same. Rhino is a Russian mobster who is caught by Spider-Man, Osborn breaks him out & gives him another chance. He ends up becoming the 10th member of Project 12.
That's it for part 1 and my Phase 2. I'll post part 2 with phases 3, 4, & 5 up soon! I the meantime, stick around and read some more articles.
