So the other night I finally got around to watching this film, Stitches, needless to say this is a very funny and gory film! It has the perfect amount of campy attitude, but it hits it out of the park in terms of comedic timing. Then again, it's a british film, so they know how to time comedy well (i.e. - Monty Python, Shawn of the Dead, etc...).
"Jaded Richard Grindle is the sleaziest clown working the children’s party circuit in Ireland. Arriving late to one birthday, his timing is off, the bratty kids a nightmare and a prank goes horribly wrong - he falls on a kitchen knife and goes to that Big Top in the sky. Years later the same nasty kids attend another more grown up bash. Little do they know, thanks to a black magic clown cult, Stitches will be the uninvited guest of honour seeking revenge on those responsible for his untimely death." - The Official Facebook Page for Stitches
This movie has some of the best creative kill scenes I've seen in a long time. From the using an ice cream scooper to pull out a brain to an umbrella being thrown through a girl's eye, I have to say this alone is worth for that!
The clown character named Stitches, he alone was unbelievable awesome! You know you just love horror movie killers because of their "bubbling" personalities? Well he is one of those types that you want to watch again. He had some of the best punch lines for this film.
Another fun moment was watching this weird cult clown associating towards the beginning of the flick. They had confetti and ritual eggs. Now the egg thing I'm told is true for all people that become professional clowns. Needless to say, that part added to a much more creepier vibe for the movie.
The kids in this flick, after they grow up, half are complete jerks, while the rest seem normal and had decent parents. Then again, one of the kids at the birthday party scene in the beginning gave the middle finger, so that just straight up made it obvious that one of them was a complete and utter asshole!
If you like movies similar to "Evil Dead II" or "Sleepaway Camp", then you'll truly appreciate this gem! If you've never seen the movies I've just mentioned? Mark those on your to watch this for October! DO IT! You won't regret it!
