Im like many others on MoviePilot. Comic books to comic movies/TV series. Sci-Fi, action, and fantasy movies, you name it, Im a fan of it.

Guardians of the Galaxy is turning out to be quite the success. Not only is it the biggest movie of the summer but its now also the highest grossing movie at the domestic box office with $294,567,000. So far worldwide its managed to bring in $586,167,000, surpassing the first Iron Man movie and could likely pass Iron Man 2 in the next few weeks. In the US Guardians of the Galaxy was pushed to second place with the release [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles](movie:323027) however even though [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) has been out now for over a month it's amazingly managed to take the number one spot back. The fact that the movie has been able to hold its spot for so long is very impressive, and if it can out-gross Iron Man's $318.4 million then it will become Marvel Studios third highest grossing movie at the domestic box office. With the sequel arriving in July 2017 Im sure the foreign box office will bring in more money and I have a good feeling it could join the billion dollar club.

I myself say that this movie well deserved its earnings as it was a fantastic film. The way the characters were brought together, the comedy, the action sequences and Thanos's scene were all superb. James Gunn did an excellent job at bringing the main characters together and wrote the perfect script for this first movie. Looking forward to seeing what Gunn has in store for us next. My theories are that we'll meet Star Lord's father and get to know his background. Alongside that I reckon this movie would be a good opportunity to introduce Adam Warlock, who I know plays a big part in the Infinity Gauntlet story arc which seems to be where the Marvel Cinematic Universe is heading. Would be nice to see another tease from Thanos if an infinity gem is to be shown as well. Other than that I hope to see another great movie, there are plenty of villains and threats they could use from the comics to have in the sequel. Let's just hope Gunn knows what he's doing and gives us another awesome movie.

So do you think the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel could join the billion dollar club at the Box Office?
