As you may have heard The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, producer David Alpert and actor Norman Reedus have paired up to work on a new sci-fi film called Air.
Based in a post-apocalyptic world, it would be easy to imagine Air as "Daryl Dixon in space" but a recent interview with David Alpert has firmly shut this down.
Air will follow two nuclear fallout survivors (one of whom is played by Norman Reedus) as they try to survive underground in what is understood to be the last habitable space on earth. Post-apocalyptic world? Surviving? Definitely sounds like something a Daryl-type character could be into, right? Well maybe not.
Norman Reedus plays a maintenance man that is woken up every six months to clean the air filter. He’s been doing it for years and years, but this time, something goes horribly wrong. It’s a really interesting character study with this giant post-apocalyptic backdrop. Daryl is very strong, but can be child-like at times. In Air, Norman’s character is very independent-minded and he’s very much a leader, whereas Daryl, I think, is the perfect #2. Norman’s character in Air would never be working with Rick.
Norman Reedus as a maintenance man? Can't tell if that's almost an insult or actually quite fitting. Either way it sounds like Norman Reedus' character will be an interesting one and quite different from the kick-ass, but undeniably petulant Daryl Dixon. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Reedus in this new role.
Air will be released on March 13, 2015 (yes, that's a Friday the 13th!) and for those of you who may not have seen it yet, check out the trailer below:
Are you looking forward to Air?
