Just last month Warner Brothers surprisingly revealed a schedule of release dates for DC movie content. It came at a bit of a surprise and for me this is awesome news. Finally we could be seeing a Cinematic Universe from DC Comics which has been anticipated for many years now. So here's my predictions for the four years of DC movies starting from 2016.
So of course we all know where it begins. March 25th, 2016 will be the release of Dawn of Justice which has a lot on its shoulders at the moment and if its a failure it could put the future of the DCCU in a lot of trouble. Saying that though it is very likely to be a massive hit at the box office, as Batman and Superman are the two most famous comic book characters of all time. So even if the movie is bad its gonna be a success.
Next on the list is the Shazam movie to be released on August 5th 2016. To be honest I can't see it being any other DC movie. Apart from Dawn of Justice this is the only movie that we actually have news on. We know that New Line Cinema will be producing the movie, they have a screenwriter hired to work on the script, and Dwayne Johnson has been confirmed to play Black Adam.
23rd June 2017 has practically already been confirmed for the Justice League movie. If Im right in saying WB's announced that Justice League was to arrive the following year after Dawn of Justice, which is 2017. I also highly doubt that the movie would be released in November.
Now its been said that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be directing this none-DCCU movie. David Goyer (Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel) is suppose to be writing for the movie while Levitt not only directing but also playing the Sandman. There hasn't been much said on this movie since but with Levitt taking up directing now as well as acting I can't see an opportunity like this being dropped for him. And it was said that not all the DC movies will be connected to the Cinematic Universe. This could likely take the November 17th 2017 release.
Aquaman is next on the list with the March 23rd 2018 release. It was this or Wonder Woman but I got a feeling we could be seeing Aquaman get his movie first. Two writers have been hired to both write separate scripts and obviously who ever writers the better script gets picked for the movie. Also it seems lately a lot of people are trying to stick up for Aquaman after all the hate the characters got include Zack Snyder. Also there's the possible casting of Jason Mamoa to play Aquaman which has seemed to quiet down all the haters. With that being said I think Aquaman is next on Warner Bros list.
Now its safe to say that we need a female superhero lead movie. Wonder Woman is without doubt the character we need to see get a standalone movie. Out of all the female characters in the comic book world Wonder Woman has to be the most badass and most wanted for a movie and teaming up with Batman/Superman plus the Justice League won't be enough. July 27th 2018 needs to be Wonder Woman or if not then at least have her on one of the other release dates.
For April 5th 2019, Im gonna go with a Man of Steel sequel. Im not gonna count Dawn of Justice as an official sequel cause to me its more like a Justice League prelude. Now either 2018 or 2019 could bring us this sequel however Im betting it would most likely be released in 2019 so that Cavil can take a break from the role for a bit. He's got a lot of work at the moment with Dawn of Justice and potently going straight on to Justice League once DOJ raps. Then of course he'd have to be ready to go straight onto the MOS sequel after Justice League raps if it were to come out in 2018. So Im going with the MOS sequel for this next date and I reckon this could be a good area to introduce SuperGirl maybe. Wouldn't mind seeing Braniac though I believe that villain would be good for the first Justice League movie. This could be a good place to bring Doomsday into the picture.
We all know its gonna come eventually, just hopefully they'll give it a while before Batman gets his own movie again. June 14th 2019 seems like a option and I think its time we get to see Red Hood on the big screen. The fact that this is an older Batman means that Jason Todd's Robin could have already been killed in the past. This is the perfect opportunity for Red Hood and it would be great to see a proper fight in a live action Batman movie. We haven't really seen Batman fighting to the best capability yet, and it would be awesome to get a fight scene like what we saw in The Winter Soldier. The martial arts were incredibly done in that movie and we need to see Batman fighting like that.
It was rumoured that this could be a possible movie and I hope it does happen. For a team up movie this would be great and hopefully it would help boost Green Lanterns reputation since things didn't go well with his last movie. This movie could land earlier than April 3rd 2020 but this is just my suggestion for now.
By this time Im sure we'll be ready for the second instalment of the Justice League franchise. Maybe we could see the Legion of Doom or Injustice League form. Or maybe Darkseid could make his stand though I think he's best saved till last like Thanos in the MCU. Anyway this would be my final prediction for June 19th 2020.
So there's my prediction, whether you agree with me or not, Im sure we'll be seeing most of these titles eventually.
