It's not so often that a film like Pulp Fiction comes along. A classic in every sense of the word, it helped launch careers, revive careers and firmly cemented Quentin Tarantino as a visionary director for those who held any doubts.

Well this month we celebrate an amazing TWENTY years years since audiences were treated to Pulp Fiction for the first time.

The only appropriate way forward is to give the entire film a rewatch, spend at least a week quoting the best lines at friends and take a look at what the cast look like now:

Jules Winnfield - Samuel L Jackson

Who was he?: A hitman working alongside Vince Vega for Marsellus Wallace. After a moment of clarity he decides to leave the life of being a hired killer and 'walk the earth.' Jules is responsible for some of the most quoted lines in the film ("I don't remember askin' you a goddamn thing', 'Ezekiel 25:17' 'does he look like a b***h?')

Age then: 44

Age now: 65

What's he done since?: What hasn't this guy done? I'm not about to list off all his films because if you don't know a recent Samuel L Jackson film then shame on you!

Aside from all his amazing film work (ok I'll crack: Star Wars prequels, many Marvel universe films and the cult classic Snakes on a Plane) he has also done a lot of voice work, reading the part of God in the Bible audio book (!) as well as the fantastic kids book Go the F**k to Sleep. He has also appeared in many Tarantino films since Pulp Fiction.

Vincent Vega - John Travolta

Who was he?: A Heroin addicted hitman working for Marsellus Wallace. Vince is well remembered for his 'bathroom curse': every time he goes to the bathroom something bad happens (Mia overdosing, the diner hold up). He ultimately succumbed to the 'bathroom curse' himself and was killed by Butch Coolidge as he came out of the toilet.

Age then: 40

Age now: 60

What's he done since?: Pulp Fiction was a turning point in Travolta's career, which had flailed during the 80s. He went on to do a string of popular films in the 90s such as Get Shorty, Face/Off and Primary Colors. More recently he starred in Wild Hogs and From Paris With Love.

Mia Wallace - Uma Thurman

Who was she?: The cocaine addicted wife of Marsellus Wallace. Mia was kept company by Vincent Vega while Marsellus was in Florida and the two visited Jack Rabbit Slim's dance in the twist competition. She overdoses on Vega's heroin believing it was cocaine and was revived thanks to a syringe of adrenalin to the heart.

Age then: 24

Age now: 44

What's she done since?: Following Pulp Fiction, Thurman had more success in films such as The Truth About Cats & Dogs before returning to star in Tarantino's widely popular Kill Bill Volume I and Volume II as The Bride. More recently she was in Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac.

Butch Coolidge - Bruce Willis

Who was he?: A boxer coerced into taking a bribe from Marsellus Wallace, whom he double crosses. He plans his escape with his girlfriend Fabienne but before they leave he kills Vincent Vega, who had baited him once before. He ends up with Marsellus Wallace as the two are kidnapped and held hostage by two sadist serial killers, Maynard and Zed. Butch saves Marsellus and kills Maynard while Wallace kills Zed. Marsellus Wallace then allows Butch and his girlfriend to escape LA on Zed's chopper.

Age then: 39

Age now: 59

What's he done since?: After Pulp Fiction he went from strength to strength in such movies as Die Hard with a Vengeance, The Sixth Sense, Sin City and Moonrise Kingdom. Willis's films have grossed somewhere between $2.64 and $3.05 billion making him one of the highest-grossing actors in the world.

Marsellus Wallace - Ving Rhames

Who was he?: The big gang boss and husband to Mia Wallace. He had a reputation which induced fear in many (including throwing a man off a roof for giving his wife a foot massage). He was almost killed along with Butch Coolidge before the two killed their captors and managed to escape.

Age then: 35

Age now: 55

What's he done since?: After Pulp Fiction Rhames went on to star in ER for three seasons and also played the computer hacker Luther Stickell in all of the Mission: Impossible series, including the 5th instalment which is currently filming.

Pumpkin/Ringo - Tim Roth

Who was he?: The petty thief boyfriend of Yolanda, Ringo had plans to become a big time bank robber but they never quite materialize. While discussing issues with Yolando, the two spontaneously decide to rob the diner they were in. He is eventually talked down by Jules Winnfield.

Age then: 33

Age now: 53

What's he done since?: Since Pulp Fiction Roth has starred in films such as Planet of the Apes and The Incredible Hulk, and most recently alongside Nicole Kidman in Grace of Monaco. He has starred in three Tarantino films (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Four Rooms) and will appear again as an unknown characters in his new film The Hateful Eight.

Yoland/Honey Bunny - Amanda Plummer

Who was she?: Ringo's slightly crazy girlfriend who helps hold up the diner after the two decide to rob it. Her character inspired the band name 'Yolanda Be Cool' from the scene when Jules Winnfield yells at her to 'be cool' during the diner robbery.

Age then: 37

Age now: 57

What's she done since?: Plummer has had a solid career on both the screen and the stage. Most recently she made an appearance as Wiress in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
