It's been a bumper month for surprise weddings.
First there was the news that Brangelina had taken the leap after 10 years together, and now Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka have followed suit this weekend, marrying in an intimate ceremony in Italy.
Dr Doogie Howser, now 41, married his long-time partner Burtka surrounded by only close friends and family, and without any media circus.
Harris announced the event via his Twitter feed, making a suitably cutesy pun:
The ceremony was officiated by the pair's friend TV director Pam Fryman, while their 3 1/2 year-old twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott also took part in the ceremony.
Elton John provided the musical honours, though there's no word on what exactly he played. We imagine 'Your Song' would have been the perfect toast to a pretty adorable couple.
Despite being together for 10 years, Harris and Burtka took their time to make it legal, even after gay marriage was legalised in their home state of New York in 2011. Harris tweeted at the time:
David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago! We've been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date.
Well, it looks like they found their perfect moment, and long may it last.
