This past July, at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, Constantine executive producer Daniel Cerone told IGN that The Spectre could possibly be coming to the DC Comics show. This was being considered as a means to open up DC's occult universe, and even perhaps give The Spectre his own television show. Yet, this was all talk back than, and nothing was official, as the show was still in development.
Well, that was than, and this is now...
IGN has learned that the character of Jim Corrigan, the man who would eventually become The Spectre in the DC Comics universe, has been cast in Constantine!
Irish actor Emmett Scanlan, who was last seen as the head prison guard in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, will play Corrigan, and will appear on Constantine as a recurring guest star.
His character is described as a homicide detective in New Orleans who is plunged into Constantine's world of occult horrors. Furthermore, Corrigan is someone who is obsessed with justice, and who doesn't let police procedure or red tape stop him from putting away the bad guys, even if the bad guys turn out to be inhuman.
Constantine premieres October 24th on NBC.
