Poor Stretch. Joe Carnahan (The A-Team, The Grey) might be declaring it as "good or better than my best film", but it seems the studios don't agree.

Carnahan's latest flick is about a limo driver (Patrick Wilson) who chauffeurs a billionaire (Chris Pine) as he tries to flog his book of criminal contacts, and also features Jessica Alba, Ed Helms and Brooklyn Decker.

No small lineup, then, but given that Universal unceremoniously dropped it 2 months before it was supposed to be released, we'll be lucky to see it at all.

Carnahan is refusing to give up, however, and he's announced a new venture in the form of BH Tilt, a company with a ten year deal with Universal who release anything the latter doesn't deem worthy.

Come October, Carnahan will be skipping theatrical release and going straight to digital. We assume a trailer will be forthcoming, but for now he's released the first pictures from the production - and they look intriguing, to say the least.

Moody Chris Pine with an insane messiah beard, robot creatures and bizarre flying outfits...what more could you want?
