With The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies due to land in theaters in December, we should slowly start seeing plenty of cool Middle-earth promotional material come our way.

Today is not one exactly of those days. But, below we do have a new behind-the-scenes image of Lee Pace (Thranduil) and Luke Evans (Bard) go over a scene with director Peter Jackson... Well worth a peek:

Adopting a slightly whimsical atmosphere with this franchise bodes well even for the epic Battle of Five Armies finale, in that it looks just about 'Hobbity' enough to please fans of the 1937 book - as well as those who want to see a more epic Rings-style adventure. Looks like the wave of naysayers has subsided and people are learning that this is a good old fashioned adventure fantasy flick with a whole lotta heart!
