Fans of smooth heads and classic Professor X, rejoice! Or, well, get ready to possibly rejoice. While promoting his new film, [The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby](movie:738419), the actor made some time to discuss the upcoming X-Men film and drop a possible notion about his role.
"I'll be older in this one, [and] I think I'm losing my hair finally," said McAvoy, recalling a short e-mail interaction with the film's writer and producer, Simon Kinberg. "Simon Kinberg ... informed me he was getting dead excited about stuff, but he didn't want to divulge anything for a couple of weeks, so I really don't know."
It's great to know that the guy at the controls of X-Men: Apocalypse is geeking out over it as much as we geek out over the X-Men universe! Here's a comparison shot with McAvoy (via my poor photoshop skills) and the incredible Sir Patrick Stewart:
Stars changing up their hairstyles and bodies for Hollywood isn't particularly new: Karen Gillan had her long red locks shaved off for [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073); Christian Bale gained 43 lbs for [American Hustle](movie:381856), and lost 63 lbs for The Machinist; Rooney Mara had several facial piercings done for [The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo](movie:38778).
With his two great performances as Charles Xavier under his belt, I think it's about time we start seeing a more confident, experienced, and hairless professor. A little baldness for a while never hurt anyone! I'm looking at you, Jesse Eisenberg.
