“Welcome to Egypt, land of the Pharaohs. A place steeped in history and legend; Gods and spiritual guides; untold wealth – and the bone-cracking, blood-spilling guardians of its riches. Jack Wells has arrived in Egypt in search of the famous diamond known as The Codix Stone. His journey leads him to the tomb of the cursed King Neferu, cursed not by name but by nature. With his centuries-old slumber disturbed by timeless human greed, the King rises from the dead with a blood-lust that cannot be staunched and a raging fury that will shred flesh from bone, bringing terrible and tormented death to all who dare witness the Day of the Mummy.”
Aside from having the most ridiculous and poorly written premise ever, I'd like to point out something - Neferu...is a female name in ancient Egypt. So there's that. Also, ancient Egyptian royalty weren't known for going batsh*t about diamonds - rubies, sapphires and gold? Totally. But not diamonds. Nice research, team. Also, Danny Glover...what the hell are you doing, man?
What's in the trailer: I wish there were other things to do in Egypt aside from attempt to rob the graves of the ancient and cranky dead. An overused story about illegally excavating for treasure, destroying ancient artifacts for personal gain, and generally being greedy awful humans and awakening an ancient evil. All seen through some "clever" POV filming, aka a cheap way to make a movie that looks cheap...really cheap...like kid's TV show cheap. I'm a sucker for anything about Egypt, but this is just too much.
