Ok, I am in total shock and not in a good way! According to Deadline, Sony is officially out of ideas as they’re rebooting the horror flick that ended up grossing $125M worldwide and spawned a sequel the following year. Both starred Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Gellar, and was about friends being stalked by a killer after conspiring to cover up a fatal car accident.
Hold up! Why is this happening, seriously?! Ok I can admit that I am not a fan of I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and I found it quite annoying, but I don't even agree with remaking it especially due to it only being released back in 1997!
If they are going to do this which is looking pretty likely right now, they have to do something more with this story, something that will separate it from the original by adding something new. It was highly ridiculous that the killer Ben Willis managed to survive for 3 whole movies not including the time he was hit my a car and dumped in the sea, so to make him a supernatural force might be a little more logical (just a little).
This one is being written and produced by Oculus co-writer/director Mike Flanagan adapting the 1973 Lois Duncan book again and producing along with Neal Moritz who produced the original. Sources say that this picture is a high priority for Sony as they want to get it up and ready for 2016.
