It's become known that Universal Studios is moving forward on a fifth "Bourne" movie that will see not only Matt Damon return, but also Paul Greengrass to direct.
Both previously stated they would do another "Bourne" film if the script was right.
Regarding a sequel to the Jeremy Renner 2012 Bourne Legacy, Deadline is reporting that Universal is putting it on the backburner for the new Matt Damon "Bourne" flick.
It's stated that Universal, Damon and Greengrass are presently talking and coming to terms for an agreement, which would be their third film together. Greengrass directed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, which were the latter two of Damon's run.
Universal apparently wants this ASAP as it is giving "Bourne 5" the July 16, 2016 release date that was being held by the Renner sequel.
It's is stated the Jeremy Renner sequel spinoff is still considered in development with Fast & Furious architect Justin Lin attached.
The Bourne Ultimatum, Damon's last that was released in 2007, netted almost $500 million worldwide; Renner's Bourne Legacy totaled close to $300 million.
