I've never hidden the fact that I am a card-carrying, comic-collecting, cancellation-mourning Browncoat. I don't care if you are one of those people who get sick of hearing people whine about Firefly. I will just whine TWICE AS HARD for every complaint you lodge. And while I am aware the odds of Firefly ever getting the reboot it deserves are slim, I still do a little happy dance when the Serenity crew finds gainful employment. So file this one under Dr. Simon getting a new medical gig!
According to The Wrap, Firefly's own Dr. Simon Tam, Sean Maher, has been cast in Kickstarted indie-sci-fi-thriller titled ISRA-88. The movie will tell the story of the titular spaceship, who's mission it is to find the end of the universe. The ship's crew includes Maher's Dr. Abe Anderson, a scientist who slowly begins to go mad over the course of the extended space mission.
Maher has been involved in several high-profile projects since the cancellation of Firefly. Some have been successful (Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing, Arrow), while others were DOA (The Playboy Club... yikes).
ISRA-88 begins shooting at the end of September in Michigan, so time will tell if this latest foray into sci-fi thriller territory will be a success!
