Season five of AMC's The Walking Dead is vast approaching, and with it will come many new revelations and surprises. In fact, AMC has released an official description for the upcoming season. Here it is:

Season Four of The Walking Dead ended with Rick and the group outgunned, outnumbered, and trapped in a train car awaiting a grim fate. Season Five picks up shortly thereafter. What follows is a story that weaves the true motives of the people of Terminus with the hopeful prospect of a cure in Washington, D.C., the fate of the group's lost comrades, as well as new locales, new conflicts, and new obstacles in keeping the group together and staying alive.
Stories will break apart and intersect. The characters will find love and hate. Peace and conflict. Contentment and terror. And, in the quest to find a permanent, safe place to call home, one question will haunt them…After all they've seen, all they've done, all they've sacrificed, lost, and held on to no matter what the cost...Who do they become?

WOW!!! It sounds like this season will have its share of complexities and ambiguities, which almost always makes for interesting scenarios and plot twists. One thing is for certain: we will find out what these Terminus residents are all about. Gareth and co. may think they have Rick and co. completely defeated, but Rick will see to it that the opposite proves true. That train car will not keep them at bay for very long.

Also, there is the mystery of the "cure." Sergeant Ford has been trying to get his companion Eugene to Washington D.C. for some time now, because apparently Eugene knows why the outbreak occurred. In my opinion, there is no definitive cure, and their journey to the nation's capital might be one they will regret later. Nevertheless, if Rick and co. escape Terminus, that will most likely be their next destination. And judging by the trailer for season five, it appears like Gareth wants to be a part of that journey. We will see if Rick will let him even make it past the season premiere.

Here's the trailer in case you missed it before:

The second paragraph of the description implies that this season will be loaded with joyful moments, as well as tragic moments. Some of the characters might get lucky enough to love and be loved in return. Others might not be so fortunate, and those will only know hate, which will motivate them to hurt people. Ultimately, the decisions they all make will determine whether or not they are able to find some sort of peace, which is indeed hard to come by. Will they truly find a safe haven that will keep walkers away from them at all times? Will they be able to co-exist with each other? Or, will they only find death and destruction wherever they go? We will have to wait and see.

Finally, "who do they become?" If you think that you know who these characters really are, I highly suggest you open your minds and be ready to be proven incorrect. In a zombie apocalypse, the majority of survivors do whatever is necessary in order to continue surviving, ignoring their own respective moral values. This means that their respective mindsets may change consistently, which will lead to making choices that will define them, at least for a while, as good or evil. It may not even be that straightforward, as the characters could certainly become a little bit of both; again, whatever it takes to survive. So, this season might reveal new things about the characters that we did not know before.

Season five of 'TWD' is set to be released on October 12th. Don't miss it!!!
