Jeremy Geddes might not be a name you're familiar with, but he is one of the rising stars of the photorealistic artistic community. Perhaps most famously, he is known for developing the Cosmonaut project, a series of paintings which depict dead astronauts falling to Earth. Yeah, I know, pretty grim, right?

But that's not all he's got under his belt. he's also the go-to man for exploding buildings and/or fleshy balls of people floating in mid-air. Check out some of his work below:

Jeremy Geddes is a painter from Melbourne, Australia, author of the Cosmonaut painting series. He also authored the comic book covers for Doomed, which got him the Spectrum Gold Award.
You can follow him on his website and Instagram.

I've now spent a good 10 minutes looking at these pictures and trying to figure out whether they are simply manipulated photographs or actual paintings. After all that time, I'm still none the wiser.

Beautiful? Disturbing? Both? Let us know below.
