At the moment we are seeing a huge number of supposed "Easter Eggs" confirming the presence of Justice League characters in Zack Snyder's first DC movie, Man of Steel.
Wonder Woman Easter Egg in Man of Steel?
The most recent of them are the whales that supposedly rescue Superman when he is thrown into the sea from an oil rig, with Zack Snyder speculating that they could have been sent by Aquaman.
Surely, it is only a matter of time until we hear about a Wonder Woman Easter Egg - but it might be more interesting to look ahead, to what will happen POST Batman vs Superman, rather than look back and try to find hints that in all honesty, are often not there.
(In fact, there has already been some talk about a distant island in the background after Superman destroys the World's Engine, combined with the sound of a woman humming. Could the island be Themyscira? Could the voice be Wonder Woman's? The answer to both is: probably not)
Gal Gadot stand alone Wonder Woman movie: What Next?
One of the more interesting question about where the DC Cinematic Universe goes post Batman vs Superman is: what will happen in their stand alone movies?
Several characters are expected to be introduced in [Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice](movie:711870), including Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and potentially even The Flash and Green Lantern. With all these characters coming into the movie almost fully formed, does that mean their stand alone films will skip telling their Origin stories?
If so, what can we expect for Gal Gadot's outing, taking centre stage as Wonder Woman? In particular, what villain will she come up against?
One name being spoken about as a potential Wonder Woman villain is Circe. Circe is in some ways a mirror image of Wonder Woman - a beautiful sorceress and moon goddess who is the arch rival of Diana, aka Wonder Woman.
Circe has attempted to defeat Wonder Woman on many occasions, going so far as to incite a War among the Gods, and to disguise herself as a mortal, in oder to gain the trust of Diana Prince before she turned on her.
Having the main villain of the Wonder Woman as Circe would also allow filmmakers to cast another actress to go up against Gal Gadot - could we see the return of someone like Olga Kurylenko, who was passed over as Wonder Woman for Batman vs Superman, as a way of adding extra bite to their rivalry?
Ares: The Greek God of War
This would somewhat depend on the origin story given to Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman - if Diana Prince is a Krypton, for instance, then it might make less sense to begin introducing a number of Greek Gods.
In some tellings, though, Diana Prince is the illegitimate daughter of Zeus and the Amazon queen Hippolyta. And if this is the origin of Gal Gadot's character, then it would allow her go up against the Greek God of War: Ares.
Ares has acted both as a mentor to Wonder Woman and as one of her most formidable foes, an enemy to rival the rumored Justice League villains of Darkseid and Doomsday.
