Buzz and excitement continues to grow for the Painkiller Jane film.
Sylvia Soska, who along with her sister Jen Soska is directing the picture, feels there is a very good reason people are so eagerly anticipating a Painkiller Jane feature film.
"Everything is appealing about Painkiller Jane", says Sylvia Soska. "You have the co-creator, Jimmy Palmiotti, with his genius writing partner, Craig Weeden, bringing Jane and her world to life exactly right from the pages of the graphic novel."
"I was giggling like a madwoman and muttering 'fuck yeah' throughout the whole script," she says, laughing. "And there's humanity there. Most importantly, I see real people. I see the modern woman, flawed and fearless and unapologetic. I like the idea of introducing her to a wider audience."
"Everyone I've suggested the comic to loves her," she concludes. "They can't believe she exists. It's time to kick that up a notch!"
Painkiller Jane - originally co-created in a comic book by Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada in 1995 - has always been a fan-favorite in the comic-book world, yet both a TV-movie and TV-series never seemed to truly capture the character's essence. As a result, neither were terrible. However, neither version really resonated with viewers either.
However, the passion Sylvia Soska has for the project should be an important factor in making sure the feature film version of Painkiller Jane is the one that clicks with - and is remembered by - the general public.
