Supergirl has found a home on CBS.
The network has landed the high-profile DC Comics adaptation, handing out a hefty series commitment.
The hour-long drama will center on Superman's cousin Kara, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
Berlanti and Ali Adler will pen the show's script and executive produce the show under Berlanti Productions alongside Sarah Schecter.
Supergirl now gives Berlanti three shows based on characters from the DC Comics universe. It joins The CW veteran Arrow and upcoming spinoff The Flash, both of which will hit the airwaves this October.
This now marks the fifth DC Comics property to get a television show, with TNT close to nearing a series deal for a sixth show focusing on the Teen Titans. To say DC Comics is dominating TV screens across the world is an understatment! It's an awesome time to be a comic book fan!
