Don "The Dragon" Wilson is a kickboxing champion who is considered one of the best ever and has starred in over 35 action/martial arts films. He is a true legend in a day and age when that word has become contaminated from overuse.
So when "The Martial Arts Kid" Co-Producer Ryan Westheimer heard Wilson was aboard the action flick - the first starring role for "The Dragon" (along with fellow action/martial arts legend Cynthia Rothrock) in seven years - he was not sure what to expect from someone so accomplished and put on a pedestal by so many.
Westheimer says working with "The Dragon" could not have been more rewarding.
"(He's) a gentleman. Just an unbelievable gentleman and the definition of professionalism", Westheimer told me. "I mean, I know he was (a producer) as well and (he) was amazing with bringing so much of his following to the film."
"As a performer (he was) just always so prepared", Westheimer continued. "He would do anything it would take to get it done - and always with a smile".
"I mean, he was just amazing to work with", Westheimer concluded. "Just amazing."
"The Martial Arts Kid" is scheduled to hit theaters in 2015.
