Back in July, Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro revealed that he had a plot for Hellboy 3 in place, but he didn’t think the movie would ever happen.
For his part, star Ron Perlman has always said he would love to do Hellboy 3 to finish out the trilogy.
He even described the third film plot as epic.
In an appearance on The Colbert Report on Tuesday night, Jeffrey Tambor, who played Tom Manning in Hellboy and Hellboy 2, had a much more optimistic opinion about the prospects for Hellboy 3.
When Stephen Colbert asked Tambor point blank if there was ever going to be a Hellboy 3.
“Oh my god,” said Tambor. “There is actually talk of a Hellboy 3, but they better hurry or I am going to be in a walker.”
So will there be a Hellboy 3?
I really think that this is possible because if the fans keep asking Guillermo del Toro to make it, he might consider changing his mind and look into it with Hollywood.
The biggest problem is the money issues with the film. They say it may take 140 millon to make this movie.
Just because of the effects. The good thing is that Ron Perlman wants this movie to be made.
It would be a different situation if Ron didn't want to come back but at least we don't have to worry about that! Yes, Ron is getting older every year, just like every actor does, so time is of the essence.
Luckily, Ron is really healthy and is in pretty good shape. He has the muscles and the speed!
Ron really wants this film to be made!
Ron Perlman is so dedicated to Hellboy 3 that he's even bugging del Toro about it, who in turn is probably going to start bugging Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures about the prospect of the film's future existence.
Now obviously part of Perlman's motivation is how much fun he had playing the role of the famous demon spawn turned paranormal agent, but another part of his drive is rewarding his faithful fans.
When pressed further about Hellboy 3, Ron Perlman said it best when he said, "I think Hellboy 3 is the best thing we could do for the fans that were so devoted to the first 2 films. And I argue for it every day. "
Of course, with something as big as Hellboy 3 on the line, any little piece of advice from someone as close to the project as Perlman can help.
His number one piece of advice to make Hellboy 3 a reality is one that's extremely common sense, but not always effective.
He's encouraged fans to, "...show as much enthusiasm for its eventuality as is possible. Because people are listening."
The only thing we can do as the fans is to fight and never give up, like Ron never does.
Overall, we all know the price of making the film is really expensive, as does Hollywood.
Hollywood and the Founder and CEO of Legendary Pictures know if this film ever does get made it will make millions, which is good !
Here's hoping that among the people listening to the Hellboy 3 chatter is Thomas Tull, Founder and CEO of Legendary Pictures.
Universal should still have the rights to Hellboy, and if it's as easy as that on Universal's end, then making Hellboy 3 should be as simple as funneling sweet sweet profits from Legendary's other Guillermo del Toro upcoming projects (like Crimson Peak and Pacific Rim 2) into the coffers of the BPRD.
It's time for those who bump back against the things that go bump in the night to have one final showdown, and it's up to you – the fans – to make sure it happens.
General Hellboy is waiting for us to bring the fight to those in charge, so make all of the noise you can and demand that Hellboy 3 become a reality.
You can do so, in part, by supporting Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak (scheduled for release on October 16th, 2015) and Pacific Rim 2 (scheduled for release on April 7th, 2017.)
And Ron Perlman's memoir, Easy Street (the Hard Way): A Memoir is on bookshelves now, in both print and author read audiobook.
Guillermo del Toro is very busy at the moment with his upcoming movies. But if I'm not mistaken, I think once Pacific Rim 2 is finished and done he might have time to make a Hellboy 3.
I know for myself I won't be able to go on without a Hellboy 3. Just having the first two isn't enough because it doesn't compete his destiny.
It's like watching Harry Potter and, for example, you really enjoy Daniel Radcliffe as Harry.
What if the final film was arranged to come out and the studio said it is going to be very awesome to watch, but then made a statement later the next year saying they would not be making the last film because we are really busy with other projects, so, "sorry guys, just watch the other films that were made and just imagine what the last one would have been like."
I know that I and all the other fans would have been very disappointed to hear that.
It's like trying to walk up a hill that is to steep and you have to quit before reaching the top.
It's like I told my dad, I respect Guillermo del Toro’s work and I understand him very well when he says he's very busy.
Guillermo is a very talented man and he has a family and his personal life. I'm sure he thinks about making a Hellboy 3 everyday of his life.
Deep down I'm sure he wants to make the film so the fans'll be happy give a good ending to the Hellboy Trilogy.
No matter what happens I will never give up, just as Ron never will either.
I do think we will get this movie in time, just as long as Guillermo isn't that busy with his other projects.
Who knows, we might find out something very soon!
What do you think will happen ?
Will we get a Hellboy 3 to complete the trilogy ?
