Despite the sad news that the next installment of the Pirates franchise has been moved to a July 2017 release (as opposed to its originally planned 2015 release) due to budget concerns and an unfinished script, pirate fans can rest assured that the film is now underway with pre-production currently taking place in the beautiful Gold Coast of Australia. Not only will we see the return of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and potentially….WILL TURNER (Orlando Bloom…oh yes, Orlando Bloom) and Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), but the film is expected to bring in an estimated $100 million and 1000 local jobs into the Queensland area. Locals are “delighted to have been able to approve this proposal which will be Australia's largest ever contribution to the financing of a major film.” According to Debra Richards, the CEO of industry lobbyist AusFilm, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will be the largest international production ever to shoot in Australia.

Now you’re probably thinking, “That’s great and all…but what are the movie details!” Well, although no official casting news has been announced, with pre-production already underway and filming set to begin in 2015, a cast announcement and plot details should not be too far off.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will once again be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg and is set to release on July 7, 2017
