Gotham has found its Harvey Dent!
Actor Nicholas D'Agosto, pictured above, is rumoured to be playing the role, popping up the first season with the option of becoming a regular in the second. I can't find anything super official about this, but as it was just on Deadline, I thought it wise to share.
While D'Agosto is an older actor, he actually looks quite young, to the point if the show wanted to they could position him around the ages of Edward Nygma or Oswald Cobblepot.
His role is said to be the following:
In the Batman prequel series, based on the DC characters, Harvey Dent is a bright, charming, idealistic Assistant District Attorney whose sole mission is to eradicate the crime and corruption that has poisoned Gotham. Although he will one day serve as the white knight Gotham needs so badly as a DA, Dent also gives us a fleeting glimpse of the hideous villain he will become — Two-Face.
Gotham‘s Dent is described as “handsome, warm and engaging,” constantly maintaining a sunny disposition even when dealing with the city’s seediest riffraff.
But perhaps there's a little darkness inside...or a lot.
Note the 'assistant' DA. He's just starting out. Honestly, at first look, I thought D'Agosto was much, much younger than he really is. Dent also has the potential to be an older Batvillain, even if he's not usually portrayed that way. So, my own opinion? I reckon he'll do great. If they make him still in university or a very new assistant DA I'd be most happy, but I'll support whatever route they take and pass judgement after.
On top of that, even if Dent is as old as 25, Bruce will be Batman in about a decade. That only puts him in his mid thirties, and he'll probably be even younger than that. Before you go slurring, remember, this is a new interpretation and adaption, just like a multiverse comic.
FUN FACT: Harvey Dent became Gotham's youngest ever DA at 26, before Batman started his crusade. Dent is always older than Bruce, sometimes by 1 or 2 years, sometimes by 10. The version in Gotham is a "fresh assistant DA" looking at a prospect of being Gotham's white knight, which suggests he'll really only be about 20-23. That's well within acceptable age range. If Bruce becomes Batman at 20, Harvey will only be 35 at the most, a perfectly fine age.
