Last week saw the official Avengers 2: Age of Ultron synopsis released, and while, like most movie synopses, it was phrased in a way that gave relatively little away, there were a few clues in Marvel's wording.

Hulk, Hulkbuster & Captain America: Avengers 2 In-Fighting

There has been much speculation that the alliance of the Avengers, a somewhat difficult relationship to begin with, will be further testing in Avengers 2.

We have all seen the pictures of Iron Man doing battle with Hulk, aided by his iconic Hulkbuster armor, but could the real threat to the Avengers (Ultron aside) come from a different direction?

Fans have for some time been spotting Captain America's uneasy relationship with SHIELD, many of which seem to hint at a rupture with The Avengers team, potentially along the lines of the Civil War.

In [Captain America: The Winter Soldier](movie:254973), not only did we see this argument with Nick Fury:

Fury: (SHIELD is) "going to neutralize a lot of threats before they even happen,"

Cap: I thought the punishment usually came after the crime.... This isn't freedom. This is fear."

But we also saw mention of Avengers being put in prison, mirroring a major plot lines in Marvel's Civil War:

Scudder: Agent... given your service record, both for this country and against it... you belong in a penitentiary, not mouthing off on Capitol Hill.

Natasha Romanoff: You're not gonna put me in a prison. You're not gonna put any of us in a prison. You know why? Because you need us.

So could Avengers 2 see Iron Man and SHIELD come up against resistance from within [The Avengers](movie:9040), with the more independent minded characters like Captain America and Black Widow opposing their overbearing approach? Given these quotes, you wouldn't doubt it. Bucky Barnes and Tony Stark didn't always see eye to eye, in any case.

Tony Stark, Iron Man & Ultron

In the comics it is Hank Pym aka [Ant-Man](movie:9048) that creates Ultron. In the MCU, however, we are all expecting Tony Stark to create Ultron. As the Avengers 2 synopsis puts it, Tony Stark attempts to "jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program" - presumably leading to the creation of Ultron.

This is not the only hint of discord within the Age of Ultron synopsis, either. It goes on to mention the "uneasy alliances" struck up by The Avengers, as they attempt to battle the robotic threat.

Could this mean that, after doing battle with Ultron and his hordes, the Avengers, led by Captain America, turn their back on Iron Man?

There has been speculation that Tony Stark could head into space, potentially linking up with [Guardians of the Galaxy 2](movie:1081113). Is there any chance that he decides to call in quits on earth following his Ultron mistake?

What do you think will happen in Avengers 2 Age of Ultron? Could The Avengers split apart, leaving Earth even more vulnerable to the threat posed by Thanos?
