Take a look at this cartoon photo above. These are some of the best horror movie icons of all time. I don't know about you, but I would love to see another good slasher horror.
Today, all we have is zombies, paranormal, zombies, vampires, and paranormal. Did I mention zombies? I understand that people are afraid of things they can't see. That makes it even scarier, especially in the dark. But, to me, there's nothing like being on the edge of your seat, watching some busty model running from a psycho killer, that somehow can't be killed.
Now a days, with the special effects that we have. We can make an amazing horror movie. Yet, we waste it. Take a look at the old Friday the 13th movies, they had it right. The only thing they didn't have, was the special effects and HD quality. If we could bring that style back, use the technology we have today, and get some other actors besides Zack Efron and Seth Rogen. Yes, I understand some people love to laugh every now and then. It's not something that should be a big part of horror. When I think horror, I think blood, killer, murder, body parts, and the famous murder weapon. All I see today is, (best movie guy voice) some family, in a house, with a dark story. Little did they know that story wasn't over. It's all the same. Although, I always do enjoy a good Rob Zombie flick.
I loved the Rob Zombie Halloween series. This is a good example of old style horror, using today's technology. The slasher horrors today need to be like this! Give me another Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St., Child's Play, even another vs. Movie. Jason vs Michael, maybe?
Jason vs. Michael, Freddy vs. Michael, or even another Freddy vs. Jason. Any of these I would be satisfied with. Why stop there? Let's put Chucky into the mix. Chucky VS. Jason, maybe? That just might be entertaining. But knowing Chucky, it will become a comedy. So let's put Chucky to the side, for now he's benched. What about some Leatherface VS Jason? That would be a battle, just as Michael Vs. Jason. Two big dudes, each with a badass murder weapon. Both, going at it through the whole movie, killing everyone in sight. Hell. Why fight though, when they could just team up.
Two big ass, scary dudes in one movie. They don't fight each other. Instead, they take on the same set of characters. Jason is having trouble keeping up with the sudden popularity of Camp Crystal Lake. He then call on his old friend Michael to catch up on his quota. After that, Jason can give his momma a big old hug, cause he's such a good boy.
Ok now let's move on to Freddy, he's scary as shit! You can't sleep? Some dude in your dreams trying to kill you, and if he does, you die in real life? Fuck that! I love my sleep way too much. The last Freddy was eh, ok. Let's make Freddy a good guy, but then no! He still wants to kill you. We already know Freddy, is on crazy mofo. Let's not try and change the story. Let's just embrace what we already have. Why Robert England? Why did you have to stop being Freddy?
This was one of the best, scratch that, the best Wes Craven film series, ever. There will never be a movie like this, that can beat it. I'll miss you Freddy! At least, until someone can make another good nightmare movie. Maybe Freddy haunts your nightmares while Michael try's to kill you when your awake. That's the ultimate Nightmare. I don't really care, as long as it's good and scary, do it! Even Michael Vs. Freddy will do. Just don't make it look like a big Jason size dump. That dude has to be constipated. He hasn't shit in like 30 years!
Freddy VS. Jason was a good idea, made by the wrong people. Even though, they tried at least. One day, there will be another good horror movie that becomes an instant classic. Like, all those ones you used to watch as a kid, late at night, when your parents were asleep.
This Halloween season should be a good one, so let's grab some popcorn, sit back, and watch your favorite horror movies, whatever they may be. Personally, my favorites of all time are Friday the 13th parts 2,4,7, and the newest remake. I liked how they gave Jason more personality. You could really tell when he was angry. My other favorites are Nightmare on Elm st.(just the first really, the rest are ok.), Rob Zombies Halloween (again just the first.), House of a 1000 Corpses, Toxic Avenger, Dead Alive AKA Braindead, Evil Dead (original and remake), and my most favorite horror film of all time is Creepshow. I loved this film. Two great horror icons team up and make one of the best horror films available. All the great stories of monsters in crates, a dead old dude wanting cake, and my personal favorite the one with Meteor Shit!
I really hope one day we will again see something as awesome as these films. Until then, I will be rewatching all the classic favorites, patiently waiting for the next best thing. Can't wait!
Anyway, thanks for reading, this was my first article and won't be my last. I watch and love a lot of movies. I even make films myself so I will be also posting about those as well. I hope you enjoy!
