Was there ANYTHING that Lord of the Rings and Hobbit writer J.R.R. Tolkien wasn't good at? Ironing maybe? I'm not sure, but today I learned that he certainly had mad hand drawing skills.

Check out these incredible designs of his. Okay, they've been floating around for a while on the web. But they're that inspiring, that I had to share these pictures of Rivendell, the Mountain Path, and the Front Gate.

This is what I'm Tolkien about...

The Trolls

The Mountain-Path

-----------------

Bilbo Comes to the Huts of the Raft-Elves

-----------------

Rivendell

-----------------

The Front Gate

-----------------

Wickedness

-----------------

Undertenishness

-----------------

Grownupishness

Am I the only one who thinks Tolkien's closest friends had probably had it up to *here* with his fantasy works? Still, can you imagine what it was like in his mind? Just...amazing.

Would you have liked to see more of Tolkien's artistic influences in Peter Jackson's movies?
