The rumors have been going on for ten years that maybe, just maybe, the cast of Friends might reunite for one epic, glorious one hour episode. Even when executive producer and co-creator Marta Kauffman has said several times they are not going back, fans still have a tiny hope they are lying. Maybe they are keeping it a secret and you will only know it's real when you hear that catchy jingle once again with a brand new episode.
Nothing but sheer fan enthusiasm has ever ignited the rumor that Ross, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Monica would get back together a decade later. However, out of that same enthusiasm, or just plain cruelty, a video called Friends: The Movie recently came out and while that title made many shriek with excitement, the trailer is completely fake.
The video is composed of different scenes from CougarTown, Episodes, and other shows where the cast of Friends collaborate for a few minutes. At first glance it may look like it's a teaser to something, but soon you realize they are not portratying the characters, the story doesn't have any continuity and that is not the original Friends font.
I can't say I am happy the producers of Friends don't want to bring it back for one great reunion (Seriously! Would it kill ya?!) But if this is a glimpse at what would happen, then I will pass. Sometimes you need to leave a show while people still want more. In the meantime, a Friends marathon is still one of the best things to do with your Saturdays. Trust me. I have done it more than I would like to admit.
