Once a mere Disneyland attraction, Tomorrowland is now becoming one of the most hotly anticipated movies of 2015. The last time this happened we ended up with the Pirates of the Caribbean series, so I wasn't the slightest bit worried to begin with. This teaser trailer gives us just enough to whet our appetites without giving too much away. And it solidified my belief that this movie is going to be great. Before we discuss Disney's sci-fi mystery film further, you've got to check out the incredible teaser trailer.
How awesome does that look? I already know the answer. It looks pretty freakin' awesome! The film, directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles, The Iron Giant, and Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol), is about Casey Newton (Britt Robertson) a young teen who feels disconnected from the world around her, who collaborates with a boy genius turned jaded inventor, Frank Walker (George Clooney). The pair travel to Tomorrowland, where their adventures into the unknown will change them, and the world in which they live.
Other familiar stars we can expect to see are Hugh Laurie, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, and Keegan-Michael Key.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, screenwriter Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus, HBO’s The Leftovers) stated:
What Hogwarts is to magic, Tomorrowland is to science: They are both easy to find if you are a wizard and very difficult to find if you’re a Muggle,” says Lindelof. “Walt Disney is not a character in our movie, but he is referenced as having some involvement in this mysterious place called Tomorrowland, as a huge futurist and aficionado of space travel, rocketry, cities of the future, and space travel.
Hogwarts for scientists? Where do I sign up? No, seriously. Where do I sign up?
Between the retro-futuristic style, the killer cast, and the writer/director powerhouses that are Lindelof and Bird, I am beyond excited to see this movie. Do we want to go? Of course we want to go, George!
